How do I make a music visualizer for YouTube?
Last updated: August 24, 2026
Use Cascade to build a vertical, beat-synced visualizer from your audio and visuals, export MP4, then upload that file as a YouTube Short. Cascade does not publish to YouTube, and it is not a long-form music video editor. YouTube Shorts is the workflow it is built for.
Shorts, not long-form
You can upload a YouTube Short you saved (MP4 or MOV) as a video style so matching has a real reference. The output is still a Cascade campaign MP4 that you upload yourself. Campaigns are vertical. For a horizontal 16:9 visualizer on the main YouTube player, Portraits exports 16:9 at 1920×1080 on Pro.
Practical upload notes
- Export MP4 (H.264 / AAC).
- Keep it vertical 9:16 for Shorts.
- You write the title, description, and thumbnail in YouTube.
- Do not expect Cascade to set YouTube metadata or schedule YouTube posts.
FAQ
Cascade is built for YouTube Shorts-style vertical clips, not long-form music videos. Export the MP4 and upload it to YouTube yourself. Cascade does not publish to YouTube for you.
Yes. Finished campaigns export as MP4 (H.264 video with AAC audio), which is what TikTok, Instagram Reels, and YouTube Shorts expect. Vertical 9:16 is the default for those placements.
Create a campaign, upload your beat, add footage or artwork, and optionally upload a reference video file (MP4 or MOV) as a video style. Cascade matches pacing and layout to that style using your assets, then you preview and export an MP4. No footage? Open Portraits, upload the beat, pick a look, and export.
A video style is the best way to get the cut you mean. Without one, Cascade still builds beat-synced edits from your footage. Upload the reference as a video file (MP4 or MOV), for example one you saved from TikTok, Instagram Reels, or YouTube Shorts. Pasting a link is not supported. Matching is strongest when the reference has clear cuts.
Audio for the beat, video or images for footage and artwork (including MP4, MOV, WebM, JPG, PNG, and WebP on upload), and MP4 on export. Campaigns are vertical 9:16 for Reels, Shorts, and TikTok.
Turn a finished beat into a reel with your own footage.
