What is a music visualizer?
Last updated: August 24, 2026
A music visualizer is a video that moves with a track. In Cascade, that’s either your own clips cut to the beat, or a Portraits look that reacts to your beat — never a generated song. You keep the sound; Cascade does the sync work and exports an MP4 you can post.
How a Cascade visualizer works
Cascade is a content producer for music producers. You start a campaign, drop in the beat, add footage or stills, and optionally show a video style you like. Cascade matches pacing, layout, and text structure to that style using your assets, then you preview and export.
It does not open a blank timeline. It does not write your music. Creative DNA can remember how you like to present work over time, but it does not replace your creative decisions.

What makes a good music visualizer
- The cut follows the beat instead of drifting off-grid.
- Artwork and footage belong to the record — cover art, session clips, or performance, not generic stock.
- The format matches where it will live: vertical 9:16 for Reels, Shorts, and TikTok.
- Captions and layout support the hook without covering the art.
- You can repeat the look next week without rebuilding the edit from zero.
How to make one in Cascade
- Create a campaign in the producer dashboard.
- Upload the beat (the same file you would send an editor).
- Add footage, stills, or cover artwork you have the rights to use.
- Optional: upload a reference video (MP4 or MOV) as a video style.
- Preview the beat-synced cut, then export MP4 when you are ready to post.
Free plans include a limited number of final exports each month and unlimited previews within fair use. Creator and Pro raise export allowance and matching depth.
No footage? Use Portraits
Portraits are ready-made visuals that move to your beat, no clips needed. Upload the beat, pick a look, choose a 15- or 30-second section, and export an MP4. Free includes Nostalgia, Surf and Horizon; Creator and Pro unlock every look. Each Portraits export uses one export from your monthly allowance.

FAQ
A music visualizer is a video that moves with a track — waveform motion, cuts on the beat, or artwork that reacts to the audio. In Cascade, that’s either your own clips cut to the beat, or a Portraits look that reacts to your beat. Never a generated song.
Create a campaign, upload your beat, add footage or artwork, and optionally upload a reference video file (MP4 or MOV) as a video style. Cascade matches pacing and layout to that style using your assets, then you preview and export an MP4. No footage? Open Portraits, upload the beat, pick a look, and export.
No. Portraits are made just from your beat and the look you choose. If you have clips, the regular Cascade flow cuts them to your beat instead.
Yes. You bring the beat, footage, and artwork. Cascade assembles those files into a reel. It does not generate your music or replace your art. You need the rights to everything you upload.
Yes. Finished campaigns export as MP4 (H.264 video with AAC audio), which is what TikTok, Instagram Reels, and YouTube Shorts expect. Vertical 9:16 is the default for those placements.
Export the MP4 and post it in Instagram. Cascade doesn’t post to Instagram for you.
No. Cascade does not create Spotify Canvases or upload to Spotify. You can still make a visualizer from a track you plan to release on Spotify, then export the MP4 for Reels, Shorts, or TikTok.
For producers who need beat-synced short-form clips from their own assets, Cascade is a faster path than opening a blank After Effects timeline. It is not a replacement for custom motion graphics, compositing, or keyframed animation in After Effects.
Turn a finished beat into a reel with your own footage.
